Length: 3 1/2"
Grade: 8.5
Description: Translucent burnt orange Chalcedony Cowhouse Slough Blade. The outline or silhouette is Paleo, Clovis Culture and the flaking on the dorsal side is colateral with several 'Book Match' flakes taken off. The back side is largely worked off of a flake, with work around the edges and primarily near the tip. On this side however, there is one broad flute on the base extending up a little more than 3/4 of an inch. The base is slightly abraided.
Since most of the points found in Pasco Co. Florida are hand dug out of the sand, there is a very limited amount of Paleo material with which to study. This is because most artifact recovery efforts do not go deep enough to uncover the scant amount of Paleo material that could be found at depth. A rare and remarkable highly collectable piece.
Provenance: Found on private property with permission, Pasco Co. Florida.
