Description:Beautifully shaped Sandstone Plummet thats look a lot like an old childs toy spinning top. The material is a local sandstone which is softer and easier to shape than certain hardstones, but the shape is unmistakable as other plummets like this one have been discovered in central Florida.
These were items of personal adornment associated with the Woodland Culture and were introduced by the Ohio Hopewell Culture and the Poverty Point Culture of Louisianna.
Provenance: Found many years ago on private property with permission within the Withlacoochee River Basin in the Dunellon area in Levy Co. Florida. From an old collection cabineted for decades.
