~ Finely Fluted Folsom ~ Knife River Flint ~ North Dakota ~(restored tip)
Length: 2 11/16"
Grade: 7.5
Description: An exceptionally thin, finely worked Folsom displaying the distinctive craftsmanship that makes these points so desirable. Highlights include a full-length flute on one face, a flute extending approximately halfway along the opposite face, fine edge work, and finely ground basal and hafting areas. A remnant of the fluting nipple remains at the base.
The translucent Knife River flint shows rich brown, amber, and honey tones with an ivory-white inclusion. Deep patination and a polished surface further enhance the stone’s character and visual appeal.
Condition: The original portion preserves the base and most of the blade, including the fluting and detailed workmanship described above. The upper 5/8 inch of the tip is restored to complete the outline.
Provenance: Found on private property with permission in Montrail North Dakota. Ex -Dr. Jim Davis collection. Davis and Dickey Certificates of Authenticity.
