Description: Super rare and killer specimen of an Early Woodland Era Boatstone Gorget made of Georgia Steatite / Soapstone. Long boat-like keel with a nice suspension groove. Perfectly executed dished out depression on the top with 2 well made suspension holes drilled on either side of the boat. These are thought to be in the possession of the witch doctor or shaman. They were worn suspended around the neck and they would have been indicators of high rank or status. In the hull of these boat gorgets, it is postulated that special medicine was tied on to them to be used in there healing rituals.
