Description: Beautiful flaked and polished Adze made of tan and green Jasper. The polish comes from long use. These were wood working tools used to dig out canoes and similar uses. This probably dates to the Late Archaic to Woodland Era. In the last picture you can see how these were hafted. I have a small group of these I acquired this in an old North Alabama Collection.

Provenance: Found on private property with permission in the 1940's in Jackson Co. Alabama, Tennessee River Basin. Lake Guntersville was impounded in 1938 and this was collected soon after.
