Description: The Biscuit Discoidal in the simplest and oldest form of game stones originating in the Late Woodland period used heavily during the Mississippian Era (900 to 1500 A.D.) in a game called Chunkey, played by rolling a smooth stone disk (the “chunkey stone”) across the ground while players threw long spears or poles, trying to land them as close as possible to where the stone would stop.
It wasn’t just a game—it often involved heavy betting, prestige, and large gatherings, sometimes becoming a major social and ceremonial event. This red, tan and cream quartz stone was pecked, ground and purposefully formed to play this game called Chunkey
