Description: Classic Paleo flaking on this heavily patinated Coastal Plains Chert, Cowhouse Slough Blade. In the first and last pictures you can clearly see the 'Over Shot' flake scars that cross the bottom half of the blade. This is a typical manufacturing pattern only seen in Paleo lithics. In the second and third pictures, you can see the opposite blade face with 2 parallel flute scars running up from the base, also a Paleo lithic diagnostic pattern. Note the divot at the top of the flute; this is where the shock wave from the precussion strike almost broke the blade. Almost entirely made by percussion flaking, another trait of the Paleo people. A cool piece that speaks volumes!
