Extra Fine Large ~ Notched ~ Allendale Point ~
Length: 2 3/4"
Grade: 9.5
Description: Beautiful large light pink with raspberry speckles near the base. Allendale points are Atlatl Dart points that date to between 4800 BP to 5500 BP and are a local varient of the Middle Archaic Benton Cluster. They are found primarily in east Georgia and western South Carolina. There are a notched varity and then there are the stemmed variety. The Notched one like you see here is the older variety. This is a very fine example of this type. Made of heat treated Brier Creek Chert. I went for years trying to buy some of these types, but I could never convince anyone to let go of any. Fortunately that dam has broke, and I now have a number of fine examples.
Provenance: Found on private property by the landowner in Burke Co. Georgia.
