Deer Antler Baton ~ Knapping Tool
Length: 5 7/8"
Grade: 9
Description: An extremely rare relic. This was made from a large primary branch Antler of a Deer. The smaller branching tine has been removed and both ends cut off. The smaller end has been rounded down from use wear. This was used to manufacture Flint Blades. The distal end was used to percussion strike the flint blades to remove larger flakes in the reduction process. Tools of bone are rare but a complete unexhausted Baton is extremely rare and this one is a stellar example. It fits so well in the hand too.
Provenance: Found on private property with permission.
